What are they?
Braces are either fixed or removable devices which move the teeth into a favourable position. I use two different systems. Once is called C-Fast which are fixed ceramic brackets and white Teflon coated wires (As pictured above). The other is SmileTru which are removable clear aligners (pictured below)

How do they work?

Braces work by putting pressure on the teeth which causes them to move in the bone gradually over time. Even with light forces, teeth can move quite quickly resulting in beautifully aligned teeth.

Why I love them

I have been a CFast and SmileTru provider for the last year and I absolutely love these systems for the following reasons:

  1. You get to preview your smile before you start

  2. We use only clear or white components, rendering your brace almost invisible

  3. Treatment from start to finish is often six months or less

  4. You can whiten your teeth as you go.

Who can have braces?

Braces are suitable for lots of people, even if you are hoping to make big changes to your smile. Book in with me to see whether you can start your transformation today.

What are the benefits?

The obvious benefit to having braces is having a beautiful smile, however there are some additional benefits too. These include teeth that are easier to clean and which therefore pick up less staining and are less likely to get decayed. In addition, everyone's teeth drift forward with time. Having braces as an adult can help correct this before it is too late and hold the teeth in a favourable position. Finally, even though this treatment is primarily for aesthetic reasons, it may be more comfortable to bite once your teeth are in an ideal position.

Is there anything else I should know?
Once your treatment with braces is done, you will need retainers to keep your teeth in their final position. This is definitely something you should discuss before embarking on treatment. There is one thing we know with absolute certainty, and that is without retention, given enough time, the teeth will move back towards where they satrted.
